The Carpenter Home has been a part of the Monadnock Region for the past 200 years.  It is located close to the site where Swanzey's first meeting house was built in 1753.

The Carpenter family maintained a farm on the land for several generations.  The home and its 300 plus acres was given to the Town of Swanzey by Lucy Carpenter.

In 1930 the voters accepted Lucy's gift and began running the Carpenter Home as a facility for elderly care.

Currently, the Carpenter Home is licensed for 16 residents and has 11 residence rooms, a mix of private and semi-private.

The Carpenter Home holds a "residential care" license from the State of New Hampshire.
